Tian Qing began to play tennis with her dad Tian Jianyi who was also an instructor of badminton in Anhua Sports School at aged seven. At the age of 7, she was transferred into Hunan Province Sports School and in 2004, she played in the World Junior Championships and win gold in the girls’ doubles competition in a team-up alongside Yu Yang.
