Thomas Krauth is one of the most popular and richest Art Dealer who was born on November 8, 1953 in Eberbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Thomas Krauth (born November 8 1953, in Eberbach, Germany) is a German businessman, artist dealer, and former producer of music.
When 1993 came around, Krauth was released from auction company Phillips and purchased a stake in Michael Brenner’s concert company “BB Promotion”. Always seeking the most innovative and high-quality stage entertainment, Krauth purchased rights to English musicals and shows many of which were produced in the US and then brought them for the German stage. Krauth presented George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin’s musical My One and Only as well as their operetta Porgy & Bess as guest performances at renowned and large theaters located in Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Vienna in Austria. Krauth also staged ballet works Carmen Flamenco and Bolero by Spanish choreographer and dancer Rafael Aguilar. Krauth also obtained the rights of German-speaking nations to the world-renowned Harlem Gospel Singers.
In 1995, Krauth boughts rights to the musical Grease and started focusing on musicals, own productions and theatre. He withdrew from the Mannheim concert agency “BB Promotion”, but stayed in close business contact with his friend Michael Brenner.
After Krauth and Michael Brenner had jointly taken over the Capitol Theater in Duesseldorf, they rebuilt it to be the first musical theatre in the provincial capital. The theatre re-opened on January 20, 1996 and played the hugely successful en-suite musical Grease, which would run for three years and be seen by an audience of roughly 1.2 million, thus ensuring Duesseldorf a place on the list of renowned musical cities.
In addition to the music industry, Krauth was also fascinated by culture and the arts. He decided to pursue this route full-time and quit his law school. The year was 1981 when he launched an auction house for art in Duesseldorf specifically, called Th. Krauth Antiquitaten und Auktionen, which was later joined with the British auction house and the third largest auction house in the world at the at the time “Phillips Son & Neale” in the year 1990. Krauth’s auction house operated under the name “Phillips Deutschland” from that period.

Each of Saturday Night Fever as well as the musical from the 1980s Miami Nights were produced by Krauth as tour productions which had been a hit en- suite show for a number of years. The productions on tour played Alte Oper at Frankfurt, Deutsches Theater in Munich, Ronacher Wien at Vienna, Musical Theater at Basel and Admiralspalast in Berlin. Grease was also staged in The Theater des Westens in Berlin and was played to a full house between September and December 1998.
In the course of the 1980s, businessmen put on musicals, concerts and ballet performances, particularly within Duesseldorf as well as Cologne. He redesigned the musical theatres to follow his business philosophy, namely best possible customer satisfaction, economical independence and control over the so-called value-added chain.

In 2002, Krauth and his business partner Andrea Friedrichs took over the roller skate musical Starlight Express at Bochum and boosted its success with artistic innovations and creative marketing measures. In 2008, Starlight Express celebrated its 20th birthday and it is deemed to be the most successful musical in the world, even with its own entry to the Guinness Book of Records. Over 12 million viewers had seen the show at the time – today the number is over 16 million.
