Waites (born on the 8th of January 1955) is an American actor and acting teacher who was raised to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Waites has an acting school located in New York City which is named in honor of his name. He is a member of the Actors Studio since 1984.

Tom then moved in Los Angeles where he started the company for theatre called TomCats. TomCats was where he started his career as a director. After two guest performances for NYPD Blue and some minor parts in smaller independent television and film productions and a guest role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mike Hammer, Private Eye with Stacy Keach and Sliders. Then, Tom established himself as an outstanding acting instructor. He established TGW Acting Studio in 2000. TGW Acting Studio in 2000 and his school continues prosper to this day. He has trained actors such like Alfred Molina, Vinnie Pastore and Vinessa Shaw. He completed grade school at Immaculate Conception and then high school at Bishop Egan in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. After one year at Bucks County Community College, he received a full scholarship for acting at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied as a member of the Drama Division’s Group 7 (1974–1977).
