In the year 2016, Tim Brown decided to retire from Tim Brown’s position as Speaker of the Ohio House to take a post within the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments and allowing the Speaker of the House Cliff Rosenberger and the House Republican Caucus to choose his successor. After a thorough vetting process, Gavarone was chosen to finish Brown’s term and be on the ballot for a full term that would begin in 2017. Gavarone was elected to the House on August 2nd, 2016 and was able to win elections for full-terms in 2016 and in the year 2018.
Together along with husband Jim Gavarone, she owns and runs Mr. Spots Philadelphia Steak Sandwich in Bowling Green along with practicing law. They possess three sons. Gavarone was elected for two consecutive term as a member of the Bowling Green City Council, having won in 2013 and winning again in 2015.

Gavarone was raised in Dayton, Ohio and attended Archbishop Alter High School in nearby Kettering prior to attending Bowling Green State University, getting a bachelor’s in Business Administration. She then attended an University of Toledo Law School and graduated in 1994. Shortly after, she started working in the law field at Bowling Green.
In the first session of the 133rd General Assembly, Gavarone was assigned to the following committees: Higher Education (Vice Chair), Health, Education, Judiciary, and Government Oversight and Reform.
In 2019, Randy Gardner was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine as Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education. He resigned from the Senate in January. Gavarone immediately announced her intention to seek an appointment to the seat. On February 6, after unanimous approval by the Senate Republican Caucus, Gavarone was officially sworn in as Senator of Ohio’s 2nd Senate District.
