Terry Lee Craft (born December 9th 1954) is an ex-professional baseball umpire who was employed for the American League from 1987 to 1999 and across the major leagues from 2000 until 2006. Craft was an umpire in 1,734 major league games over the course of his 20-year professional career. He was an umpire in two no-hitters and an Major League Baseball All-Star Game and one American League Championship Series, and two Division Series.

As of 2001, Craft had a knee problem that ended his season. After surgery for this injury, Craft was diagnosed with a blood clot , which prevented him from playing for a period of time, until the month July. After a few rehab games with the Florida State League where he was a part of the team with future MLB umpire Mike Estabrook, Craft rejoined the team consisting of John Shulock, Mike Everitt and Doug Eddings.

Craft played in during the 1997 Major League Baseball All-Star Game as well as The 2003 American League Championship Series as well as the two Division Series (1998 and 2000). He also umpired the two MLB no-hitters. In 1990 when he was in playing as Dave Stewart threw a no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays. The following year, Jim Abbott did the same thing against his team, the Cleveland Indians. Jim Abbott was also the home plate umpire at the time when Rickey Henderson defeated the record of Ty Cobb’s American League stolen base record.

After finishing his education at McKell High School South Shore, Kentucky, Craft was enlisted in the U.S. Army. In his seven years of the active roster, Craft began to umpire baseball games. He was a student at his first Bill Kinnamon Umpire Training School following his discharge from military. From 1979 until the year 1986 Craft played in a variety of minor leagues which included that of Appalachian League, South Atlantic League, Carolina League, Southern League, International League and the Dominican Winter League.

Craft made his way into Major League Baseball as a reserve umpire in 1987. He was promoted to into the International League when needed to be a backup for MLB umpire holidays. He was a part-time umpire for the major league season for six seasons and was mostly in the big leagues during in 1992. He was promoted into the permanent MLB team in the year 1993. Craft was among few umpires that didn’t submit resignations in 1998’s Major League Umpires Association mass resignation.
