Teo was recognised as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2007 for his contributions to the business and community services sectors.

A member of the country’s governing People’s Action Party (PAP), he has served as a Minister of State at both the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry for Manpower and also as the Mayor of the North East District of Singapore. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Pasir Ris-Punggol Group Representation Constituency since 2006.
