The family of Ri’chard is from Church Point, Louisiana, the son of Shirley Richard and Robert Taylor. The actor was a graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications focused in radio television, motion picture. While in master’s level in American InterContinental University, Ri’chard worked on a variety of projects, which included a series of short films as well as a web-based series. While of Dillard University, Ri’chard served as an intern for documentaries like Murder on a Sunday Morning that was later nominated for one Academy Award.

The Final Project was the first feature film and first directorial debut by Ri’chard. The film added that Taylor Ri’chard became among the few African- Americans to compose and direct an horror film theatrically released. The last film was Ernest Dickerson with Bones (2001).

The year 2001 was the time that Ri’chard interned as an assistant to the production and intern on an Academy Award winner HBO documentaries Murder on a Sunday Morning. Ri’chard later moved his passion for television and film towards Atlanta, GA where he was hoping to join the vibrant film scene in the city. But he ended up becoming company employee for several years, putting his film dreams into the background. Dissatisfied with the work he was doing and his work in the field, he began directing sketch comedy spoofs then in the year 2009 Comcast Communications bought the rights to Ri’chard’s sketch for the song by Beyonce “Single Ladies”. The media giant put the comedy on its online parody channel, where it received a top rating.

The year was 2011, and Ri’chard resigned from the corporate world to co-found 3rd Fathom Entertainment with business partner Zach Davis and wrote the screenplay for The Final Project. After four years of dedication to make the screenplay a reality, the two released The Final Project on April 16, 2015, to the public for a short screening of one-night only across a variety of cities. The film was noticed by the independent film distribution company CAVU Pictures, and on February 12 in 2016, CAVU made the film available for theatrical release across Georgia and Texas and then rolled it out for a nationwide release starting on March 4th and 5 with New York and Los Angeles in addition to other cities that were added later.

Ri’chard is releasing his sophomore feature film, “Hallowed Be Thy Name”, in Spring 2020.
