- He was raised on the streets of Menlo Park, California. When he was just three years old and 17 years old, his sister, Shannon passed away from cancer. Shannon’s death left a lasting impression and was a constant influence on Eigsti’s musical growth. Eigsti’s piano studies began at the age of four when he was influenced by his sister, Shannon. He graduated as salutatorian of High School class Woodside Priory School, where was invited back to deliver his Commencement Address in the year 2010. Then, he had one brief time with the University Southern California’s Thornton School of Music before leaving in the middle of his sophomore year to pursue a musical career.
Eigsti’s debut album on a major label was entitled Lucky To be Me. The album was released by Concord Records in 2006. The album was released on Concord Records in 2006. The album was awarded the two Grammy Award – one for Best Instrumental Composition on for the track “Argument”, and the other one was for Best Jazz Solo Performance on “Freedom Jazz Dance”. The album was met with praise from critics, but was also criticized as being unbalanced. In 2008, Eigsti came out with Let It Come to You the second album he released under his Concord label. The album features Julian Lage on guitar, Reuben Rogers on bass, Eric Harland on drums, Harish Raghavan on bass, and Aaron McLendon on drums. Also, Joshua Redman, Edmar Castaneda Dayna Stephens Ben Wendel, and Evan Francis are featured as guests. Eigsti’s new Concord album Daylight at Midnight, was released on the 21st of September on the 21st of September. The album features the singer Becca Stevens and several arrangements of current popular artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Imogen Heap as well as Elliott Smith.
In late 2018, Eigsti was reported working on his next album, Tree Falls, to be released on GSI Records. The album features drummer Eric Harland, who co-owns the GSI label. Other musicians on the album include vocalists Becca Stevens and Gretchen Parlato, and bass guitarist David “DJ” Ginyard.
Eigsti has also been featured numerous times in various television specials, NPR appearances, commercials, and composed the theme music to the motion picture “Detachment” starring Oscar-winner Adrien Brody collaborating on the score with the Newton Brothers. In 2018, Eigsti was featured on a television special with Chris Botti for PBS’s Great Performances.
Eigsti has toured the world with his quartet and trio and has often played as a sideman since his move into New York City in 2008. Eigsti has been on stage in the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Salle Pleyel, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Royal Festival Hall, Konzerthaus, Vienna, Olympia Hall, Massey Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Louise M. Taylor Eigsti (born September 24 1984) is an American jazz musician and composer. He has toured, performed, or recorded with many of his contemporaries such as Dave Brubeck, Chris Botti, Joshua Redman, Julian Lage, David Benoit, Terence Blanchard, Becca Stevens, James Moody, Esperanza Spalding, Lisa Fischer, Ernestine Anderson, Red Holloway, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Diane Schuur, Ambrose Akinmusire, Ben Wendel, Marian McPartland, Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Joshua Bell, Chris Potter, Stefon Harris, Sting, John Mayer, Hank Jones, Chick Corea, Snarky Puppy, Vanessa Williams, McCoy Tyner, Joey DeFrancesco, Charles McPherson, Geoffrey Keezer, Eldar Djangirov Joe Lovano, The Doobie Brothers and Frederica von Stadeare among numerous others. The group performed this show as a last-minute replacement for a show with Marian McPartland. The album he released in his third Taylor’s Dream was released in 2001 via DIW Records. Eigsti’s debut album that was released nationally was Resonance, which was recorded in 2003, and released on Bop City Records. The trio released their third album in a row and peaked at the top of the list on the airplay charts for national jazz radio.
