Taver Johnson (born on July 8th 1973, 1972) is the defensive backs assistant coach of the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League. He was also the cornerbacks coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He participated in football for Wittenberg University (1990-93) and was back-to-back All-American and all-conference North Coast Atlantic Conference defensive player of the year in 1992 and 1993.

Following Jim Tressel resigned from Ohio State in the year 2011 Johnson moved to Arkansas to be the coach of the linebackers at Arkansas in 2012. Following the time that Bobby Petrino resigned as head coach of the Arkansas program, Johnson was named as temporary head coach, until John L. Smith accepted the full-time job. Johnson returned as a defensive coach in the year 2013.

In January 2017, Johnson was named as the defensive coordinator at Temple underneath Geoff Collins, who was named the head coach of the Owls the month prior.

Following the one year stint as defensive coordinator at Temple, Johnson re- joined the defensive staff as cornerbacks coach at Ohio State. This move was announced in February 2018.

Johnson returned to Miami for the defensive coordinator during both the seasons of 2005 and 2006. In the 2005 season, Johnson’s defense was able to allow 23.5 scores per match which was 42nd-highest record in the country. Johnson’s team in 2006 allowed 25.3 scoring points per match.

After having graduated in Wittenberg, Johnson joined his former school’s team and was head coach of the line defense during both the seasons of 1994 and 1995. After departing from Wittenberg, Johnson joined the team of Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. In the three years he was with Millikin, Johnson served as the strength and conditioning coach (1996) as well as the Linebackers’ coach (1997) and offensive director (1998). In his brief time as defensive coordinator, his Millikin team was able to score only 14.1 score per contest.

As of 2000, Johnson quit Notre Dame to be the coach of linebackers in Miami (Ohio). Johnson played for three years at Miami and earned four first-team All Mid-American Conference selections.

Johnson spent three years coaching defensive backs for Purdue from 2014 through 2016.
