Green is a native of Boca Raton, Florida in 1986. He attended different schools during every year at high school. (Freshman/Lake Howell HS, Sophomore/Westminster Academy, Junior/Bradenton Pendleton Academy, Senior/Cardinal Gibbons HS) Following his sophomore year, in which his Westminster Academy team won the Florida Class 2A State Championship, Green was named MVP of the State Playoff Tournament and Broward County 3A-2A-1A Player of the Year. Green’s most memorable game was in the home game throughout the normal season, against Dillard High School, the three-time winning Class 6A State Champions, in which he scored 38 point and hit nine 3-pointers as his team romped to an overwhelming victory. Green completed his senior year as well as his high college career with Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On June 28th in 2007, He was selected into the second round of the draft, the 52nd overall from the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2007 NBA draft.

In 2008, Green signed with Basket Zaragoza 2002 of the Spanish ACB league. He debuted in the 2008 Supercopa and scored 18 points in his first game, against Joventut Badalona. On August 25, 2009, he signed with AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League. In July 2010 he returned to Spain and signed a two-year contract with CB Gran Canaria. In February 2012 he left CB Gran Canaria and signed a contract in Turkey with Tofas Bursa. In July 2013, Green signed with Limoges CSP. and won the French League title on his first season with them.

Green has citizenship with Georgia, and he played with the senior men’s Georgian national basketball team at the qualification tournament for EuroBasket 2011, where he averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.4 steals per game.

In his first season playing for his club, the Blazers, Green was sent to the Blazers affiliate in the development league Idaho Stampede on December 9 2007 and was returned on 22nd. A desire to increase his playing time and time for practice was noted by head coach Nate McMillan as the reason for the change. In February of 2008 He was traded to Denver Nuggets for Von Wafer.

Taurean James Green (born November 28th in 1986) is an American born Georgian professionally-trained basketball player with Le Mans Sarthe of the LNB Pro A. Green is the father of the former NBA player Sidney Green. Green played in the NCAA basketball tournament for the University of Florida, where Green was on the Florida Gators teams that won two consecutive NCAA national championships in 2006 and 2007. Green also played international basketball for Georgia following his citizenship acquisition in June of 2010.

Green received an athletic scholarships to study at his dream school, the University of Florida, where Green played with coach Billy Donovan’s Florida Gators men’s basketball team from 2004 until 2007. He was a member on the Gators teams which won the 2006 NCAA Division 1 Basketball Championship on April 3rd in 2006 and the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball tournament on April 2nd in 2007, in addition to the SEC 2006 and 2007 Tournaments. Green also surpassed the 1,000-point mark during his time at Florida and scored more than 1,170 points over just three seasons, with the most recent of which he didn’t take part in very often. A quartet of former teammates have hit the 1,000 point milestone: Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer, Lee Humphrey and Al Horford.

On July 28, 2008, he was traded to the New York Knicks along with Bobby Jones and a 2010 second-round pick in exchange for Renaldo Balkman. However, one day later he was released by the Knicks.
