On September 30th of 2013, George has been found to be guilty of four charges of wire fraud that was a federal crime. Each charge carries a fine that could be up to twenty years prison, and a fine of $250,000. The bail was immediately cancelled and he was scheduled to be sentenced on January 16th 14th, 2014. The sentence was delayed until May 2014.

George is most famous for his amazing buzzer-beating shot that defeated Clemson during the Sweet Sixteen of the 1990 NCAA Tournament. With just one second remaining in the game, and UConn losing by one points, Scott Burrell threw a full court pass to George. George took the ball then spun around before releasing the shot from 15 feet with one second left. The shot went off at the end of time and UConn took the win.
George was a part of the Quad City Thunder CBA Championship Team in 1993-94 in which George scoring 16.4 for each match. They Thunder were defeated by Omaha by a score of 4-1 during the final and won the final three games on the road to win the championship. The Thunder took the lead in the opening game in double overtime following George scored two last-second points at both the final regulation time and one overtime. The Thunder went down in the following game by a triple overtime but they were able to win three straight games in Omaha with the final game in OT.
On January 21, 2016, in New Jersey federal court, George was sentenced to nine years in prison for his involvement in the aforementioned Ponzi scheme. Upon his release he is ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution. He will also be on three years of supervised release after serving his sentence.
