Tara Kay Mack (nee Tara Klongerbo born on June 26th 1983) is a Minnesota politician who was a an ex-member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. As a Member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, she represented District 57A which encompassed portions in the towns in Apple Valley and Lakeville in Dakota County, which is located in the southeastern region of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

On the 25th of August in 2015, a ranger from the park issued a warning to Mack as a “public nuisance” for allegedly “making out” with fellow Minnesota State Representative Tim Kelly in Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Mack along with Kelly initially denied the claim to be “completely false,” and Mack continues to question some “details of the park ranger’s report.” The 14th of September, 2015 Mack acknowledged her apology to the police officers for how she handled the incident and removed herself from the House Ethics Committee.

In February 2016, Mack announced her retirement from the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Mack is an active participant on the Burnsville YMCA Board Mack is an earlier participant in the Apple Valley Rotary, and both the Apple Valley and Burnsville chambers of commerce. Mack was awarded the Aspen Institute Rodel Fellow in 2014. The husband of her, Justin Mack, is a pastor , and they have two kids.

Mack attended Apple Valley High School in Apple Valley in 2002, after which she attended The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and earned a bachelor’s diploma in Political Science and Global Studies. While in college, she was employed as an intern to then-Speaker in the Minnesota House of Representatives Steve Sviggum as well as a pager for the House Ways and Means Committee.

Mack won her first election in 2008 beating the first term Democrat Shelly Madore. She was re-elected in 2010, 2012, and 2014. In her first two years the seat in Apple Valley was named Minnesota House District 37A. Following the redistricting of 2012, the seat was renamed Minnesota House District 57A.

From 2015 to 2016, Mack served as chair of the House Health & Human Services Reform Committee. As chair, she opposed the MNsure health insurance website. Mack was a supporter of maintaining the Minnesota Sex Offender Program and opposed unconditional release of violent predatory offenders.
