Tan Chuan-Jin is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 10, 1969 in Singapore. Tan Chuan-Jin (simplified Chinese: Chen Chuan Ren Traditional Chinese: Chen Chuan Ren pinyin: Chen Chuanren ; Peh-oe-ji Tan Chhoan-jin born on the 10th of January, 1969) is a Singaporean politician, and is his 10th term as Speaker in the Parliament of Singapore. He is a member of Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) and has served within the Cabinet since May 2014, serving as minister for Manpower (May 2014 from May 2014 to May 2015) as well as the Ministry of Social and Family Development (May 2015 to September 2017). He has been a member of the House of Representatives (MP) for Marine Parade’s Representation District from May 2011. Before he joined politics He was a soldier as a soldier in the Singapore Army, rising to the rank of Brigadier-General.
The year 2008 was the first time he earned the Master of Public Management from The National University Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
On 21 May 2011, Tan was appointed a Minister of State at the Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of National Development.
Tan stood as a PAP candidate in the Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency, led by former prime minister Goh Chok Tong at the 2011 general election. The PAP’s team in the constituency defeated the team from the opposition National Solidarity Party, by 78,286 votes (56.65%) to 59,926 (43.35%). Tan has since served as the MP responsible for the Kembangan-Chai Chee ward.
After the 2004, Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, Tan served as the commanding officer of Army’s Humanitarian Assistance Task Force in Meulaboh, Indonesia.

Tan joined the SAF in 1987. Tan became a part of in 1987 the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). Tan was later able to hold the posts of Commanding Officer for the 3rd Guards Battalion, Army Attache in Jakarta as well as Commanding Officer of the 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade, Assistant Chief of the General Staff (Plans), Commanding Officer of the 3rd Division, and Commander of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and rose to the rank of Brigadier- General.
Tan attended the Anglo Chinese School as well as Raffles Junior College. He graduated in 1988 and was granted the SAF Overseas Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom, where he obtained an BSc (Econ) qualification from the London School of Economics and an MA in Arts Degree in defence Studies from King’s College London.
In 2009, Tan served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Singapore’s National Day Parade.
