Tammy Lynn Belanger (February 24 1976 – missing November 13 1984) is an American child who went missing when she was walking on the way to class in Exeter, New Hampshire, in November 1984. Police believe that she was taken from her home.

In the early morning of 13 November 1984 Belanger went out of her house at River Street in Exeter, New Hampshire, to walk to the school for elementary children located on Lincoln Street where she was in the third grade. A neighbor noticed her crossing Court Street at approximately 8 a.m. It was approximately 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) towards the elementary school and Belanger has walked when she was in 1st grade. If Belanger did not return home at 3:00 p.m. her mother contacted the school, discovered that Belanger wasn’t in class and called police. At the time the school didn’t confirm absences of students by calling parents in advance.

The discovery of human remains in Allenstown, New Hampshire, in early November 1985 led to speculation of a connection with Belanger’s disappearance; however, this was discounted by investigators. The victims of the Bear Brook murders, as they came to be known, were identified years later and confirmed to have no connection with Belanger.

In January 1992, Wonyetye was convicted of burglary and indecent exposure in Florida. During surveillance of Wonyetye, police saw him peeking in the bedroom window of three young girls in West Palm Beach, Florida, a total of 14 times in less than three weeks. He received a 75-year sentence as a habitual offender.

In the latter part of December, WCVB-TV in Boston identified Victor Wonyetye (pronounced wuh-NET-ee) who was then aged 41 suspected of being the culprit in the disappearance of Belanger. He was living in the month of November at a hotel close Rye, New Hampshire, and was incarcerated for parole violations earlier in December. He was convicted in 1979 of felony sexual assault on the minor female of his stepdaughter who was 13 years old and was sentenced to four years in prison prior to getting paroled in July of 1983. His parole was suspended at the request of the New Hampshire Parole Board on December 28, 1984 since he had left the state with no notice to his parole officer, and was convicted of a misdemeanor charge in Florida earlier in the year.
