Both his father and grandfather have degrees from Keio University, so he was expected to keep the family’s tradition. To meet the expectation of his family, he began to go to Juku (“cram class”) in the evenings after school when he was in elementary school and had an instructor at home. He eventually enrolled at Keio Futsubu School (an all-male junior high school) and relocated to Nagoya in Japan to Tokyo together with her mother to attend. He was accepted into Keio Senior High School subsequently and started playing Lacrosse as an extra-curricular sport. He picked Lacrosse because it’s only an extracurricular option for high school students or higher education. Iwata was not the first person to consider an occupation in dance. Just like other university student, he received an offer to work for an established company in his final year at university. But, when LDH announced their intention revitalize J Soul Brothers and form Sandaime J Soul Brothers (“The Third Generation of J Soul Brothers”) in July of 2010, Naoki Kobayashi, the named director of the group, and Iwata’s former friend from Twiggz Fam invited him to take part in the audition for the performers in the group Sandaime J Soul Brothers. On the 18th of September, during the rehearsals for Exile’s Exile Live Tour 2010 ‘Fantasy at Noevir Stadium Kobe, Hiro the director and director of Sandaime J Soul Brothers, declared that Iwata had successfully completed the audition and was chosen to be one of the members in the group.
