Her first live performance was in 1990. She dubbed herself Mamene Kirerie . She was part of group Fancy Face Groovy Name with Kahimi Karie and supported by Flipper’s guitar. She was also a part of the group L=R prior to releasing her own debut album, Chat Chat in 1994.
