C. Watts in the past decade and was in the same role to Congressman Tom Cole the following two years. A member from the Chickasaw Nation the Chickasaw Nation, he served as the chief of administrative officers for Chickasaw Nation Enterprises.

Shannon became the first member of his seat in the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2006, defeating opposition Janice Drewry in the general election. Shannon rose to the leadership position within the State House in which he was deputy majority whip during his first term. He chairman of the committee on transportation during his second term, and was elected speaker- designate during the third year of his term. On January 8, 2013, Shannon took the oath of his new position as the speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Tahrohon Wayne Shannon (born on February 24, 1978) is a Chickasaw American politician and banker from Oklahoma. Shannon is currently the President/CEO of Chickasaw Community Bank (formerly Bank2) and State Highway Commissioner for Central Oklahoma was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives from his home town of Lawton in the year 2006. In a ceremony held on January 8 13th, 2013 Shannon took the oath in the office of the first speaker of African descent in Oklahoma’s history to be from the House. Shannon quit as House Speaker on January 8, 2013. Shannon will be the House to pursue an election for Republican nominating process in the special Senate election to succeed U.S. Senator Tom Coburn.

Shannon is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lawton. Shannon met his partner, Devon (Murray) in the course of Cameron University and married her in 2001. They have two children: two sons and a daughter. He currently runs his own business in the privacy of his home.

He has advocated for identifying and selling off state-owned properties that were not being fully utilized. Shannon sponsored an eight-year plan to divert state income tax revenue to repairing Oklahoma’s structurally deficient bridges.
