Syuri Kondo (Jin Teng Zhu Li , Kondo Shuri, born on February 8th 1989) is a Japanese professional shoot boxer, wrestler, kickboxer , and mixed martial artist often referred to simply as Syuri (Zhu Li, Shuri) .
In December 2009 in 2009, ex- Hustle singers Akira Shoji and Tajiri held an announcement at a press conference to announce the launch of a brand new promotion called Smash. Alongside the two former Storyline adversaries Kondo as well as Hajime Ohara were also in attendance in the conference, and were included in the roster of the new promotion. In Hustle Kondo was wrestling mostly against male wrestlers in an unusual feature because of the absence of female wrestlers competing in the organization However, in Smash she was set to become a serious Joshi wrestler. Kondo was now working under the Ring name Syuri was able to make her Smash debut on the 26th of March 2010 in the first ever Smash event, but lost in the final to Meiko Satomura. On April 23rd at Smash.2 she was paired with Hajime Ohara to suffer a loss to the team consisting of Lin Byron and Kushida, losing their pinfalls to Byron. The 29th of May at Smash.3, Syuri suffered her third consecutive loss in the tournament, as her, Akira Shoji and Yusuke Kodama lost to Kim Nan Pun Lin Byron and Mentallo in an eight-person tag team match. Following this match Syuri was involved in a heated argument, which led to an argument backstage with Kana who was in the crowd, who had already announced her attendance to Smash. The result was the main event at Smash.4 on June 25, when Syuri won over Kana in a match lasting 14 minutes which ended the streak of losing and securing the biggest victory in her professional career. But, Kana came back at Smash.5 on the 24th of July beating Syuri by submission in within only three minutes.
For the next several events, Syuri wrestled against female workers from other independent promotions, who were looking for regular spots on the Smash roster. On September 24 at Smash.8, Syuri was defeated in a hardcore match by freelancer Kaoru, after which Kana entered the ring, pushed Kaoru away and helped Syuri backstage. On November 22 at Smash.10, Syuri and Kana teamed together to defeat Ice Ribbon’s Emi Sakura and JWP’s Kaori Yoneyama in a tag team match. As a result, Syuri was granted a shot at Yoneyama’s JWP Openweight Championship on December 24 in the main event of Happening Eve, but was unsuccessful in her attempt to win her first title. On January 29, 2011, at Smash.12, Syuri faced the debuting former WWE wrestler Serena in a losing effort. Syuri’s streak of big matches and her growing popularity among fans, eventually led to fellow Smash Seikigun member Lin Byron growing jealous of her, turning heel and leaving the group to start a rivalry with her. This was followed by Byron picking up back-to-back tag team victories over Syuri at Smash.13 and Live in Osaka, leading to a singles match on February 25 at Smash.14, where Syuri was victorious. At Smash.15, Syuri teamed with Tajiri and Sabu to defeat Byron, Gabriel Antonick and Michael Kovac in a six-person intergender hardcore match.
In 2011, Kondo began working with female idol group Apple Tale. The collaboration, named “Apple Tale with Syuri”, released its debut album, Chouzetsu Otome: Musha Shugyou Hen (超絶乙女~武者修行編~ ) , on January 13, 2012. In 2013, Kondo released her first gravure DVD, titled Watashi. From June 20 to 22, 2014, Kondo was a part of stage acting group Mizuiro Kakumei, working three performances in Tokyo. In August 2015, Kondo released a photobook entitled Syuri.
Born into karate, Kondo made her shoot boxing debut in 2009, and then became a part of Krush. Krush promotion as kickboxer. Over the course of the next six years she racked up thirteen wins, and one defeat as well as becoming the first Krush Women’s Champion in March 2014. In April of 2016, Kondo transitioned to mixed martial arts when she joined Pancrase. With an unbeaten record and six wins she is currently the Strawweight King of Pancrase and was the first champion in May 2017. In September 2017 She was the first to make the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut.

On the 26th of October on, 2008. Kondo was the first professional female wrestler to make her debut with Hustle at a contest which she wrestled under the name of the ring KG (short to Karate Girl), teamed with HG and RG to beat Big C, Onigumo and Piranha Monster. KG soon was a part of the Tajiri’s Hustle Union Army stable, joining a tag team along with stablemate Banzaichie and began an intergender feud together with Rey Ohara. Kondo was a part of the team until it was shut down in the latter half of 2009.
On the 11th of December in 2009 Kondo was the first boxer to make her debut in a shoot in the Jewels promotion at the Jewels 6th Ring beating Asako Saioka by a unanimous vote. In the final bout of 2009 the promotion named her the Rookie of The Year. In her second fight on February 13th in 2010, Kondo was able to win the majority decision win over Fuka. On November 11, 2011 it was announced Kondo will make her debut as a kickboxer in this year’s Krush campaign on Jan. 9 the 9th of January, 2012. On the 15th of December Miyako Mitsuhori was announced as Kondo’s opponent for the contest. In the weigh-ins before the match, Kondo measured 0.4 kg (0.88 lbs) more than the maximum weight requirement of 52 kilograms (115 lbs) she was as a consequence she was given a one point deduction penalty in the initial round and having to wear ten-ounce gloves in place of her opponent’s eight pounds of gloves. In spite of the disadvantage, Kondo would go on to take the fight by the majority of the vote. On March 7 Krush confirmed that Kondo was scheduled to be back for her second bout in the event on April 22 at Krush Ex 2012. On March 19 Yukari Sakamoto was announced as Kondo’s opponent. Kondo was able to dominate the fight , taking a unanimous victory. The 10th of July, Syuri’s 3rd kickboxing bout was announced as scheduled to take place on the 12th of August at Krush.21 She was scheduled to fight Emiko Matsumoto. In the fight, Kondo scored her first knockout victory, beating Matsumoto just 66 seconds into 2nd round. On the 21st of September, Krush announced that Kondo will return to the fight on the 10th of November at Krush.24 She would fight Miku Hayashi. In the final bout, Kondo earned another unanimous decision victory and is now unbeaten in her career in kickboxing. On May 21 in 2013, Krush announced that Kondo’s next bout was scheduled to be held on June 2 where she will take on Taiwanese fighter Chen Weiting. Syuri was able to win the match by an unanimous decision. Kondo’s subsequent fight took place at an event organized under the J-Girls promotion, as opposed to Krush in which she on the 1st of September, defeated Yayoi Sanchez in the unanimous vote.
On March 21, 2011, Syuri made her debut for Ice Ribbon in a losing effort against Hikaru Shida. The match eventually led to a partnership between the two and, after defeating Chii Tomiya and Makoto on April 16, Syuri and Shida went on to unsuccessfully challenge Emi Sakura and Ray for the International Ribbon Tag Team Championship on May 5. The partnership also carried over to Smash, where Syuri and Shida defeated Io and Mio Shirai in a tag team match on May 3 at Smash.17. On May 14, Syuri, along with Tajiri and Hajime Ohara, traveled to Mexico to represent Smash at Toryumon Mexico’s DragonMania VI event. Syuri teamed with Lluvia and Marcela to defeat La Comandante, Dalys la Caribeña and Mima Shimoda in a six-woman tag team match, submitting Dalys for the win. Upon returning to Japan, Syuri avenged her Ice Ribbon loss by defeating Hikaru Shida on June 9 at Smash.18 in the first round of a tournament to determine the inaugural Smash Diva Champion. On August 11 at Smash.20, Syuri was eliminated from the tournament in the semifinals by Kana, who would go on to become the inaugural champion. On October 28 at Smash.22, Syuri failed to earn a shot at the Smash Diva Championship, when she was defeated in a four-way elimination number one contender’s match by Tomoka Nakagawa. Also at Smash.22, Lin Byron made her return to Smash, after a four- month break during which she worked under her masked Ray alias, reigniting her rivalry with Syuri. On November 24 at Smash.23, Syuri defeated Byron in a hardcore match, after which the two made peace with each other. During the next two events, Syuri extended her winning streak, defeating Aki Shizuku in a singles match on December 30 at Smash.24 and pinning Takuya Kito in a six- person tag team match on January 19, 2012, at We Are Smash, proceeding to then challenge Smash Diva Champion Kana to a title match, after she had regained the title from Tomoka Nakagawa. On February 10, Smash announced that the promotion would be folding after its March 14 event, after which Syuri would become a free agent. On February 19 at Smash.25, Syuri defeated Kana to win the Smash Diva Championship for the first time, after which the two longtime rivals hugged and made peace with each other. In her final Smash appearance on March 14 at Smash.Final, Syuri teamed with Mentallo in a tag team match, where they were defeated by Kana and Último Dragón. After the match, Syuri officially retired the Smash Diva Championship.

On September 18, Syuri defeated Serena in a rematch to become the first two- time WNC Women’s Champion. Two days later, Syuri defeated Zeuxis in a decision match at a Reina Joshi Puroresu event to become the second Reina World Women’s Champion. The following day, Syuri made her debut for the Wrestle-1 promotion, defeating Makoto in a singles match. Afterwards, Syuri was sidelined with lower back pain, but was still attacked at the September 29 WNC event by Yumiko Hotta, who had earlier laid claim to the Reina World Women’s Championship. Syuri returned from her injury at a Reina event on October 4, where she, La Vaquerita and Zeuxis defeated Hotta, Keiko Aono and Yuiga via disqualification. On October 17, Syuri took part in a big generational eight- on-eight elimination match promoted by Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, where she, Hikaru Shida, Kagetsu, Manami Katsu, Sareee, Takumi Iroha, Yoshiko and Yuhi defeated Aja Kong, Command Bolshoi, Dump Matsumoto, Dynamite Kansai, Kyoko Inoue, Manami Toyota, Meiko Satomura and Takako Inoue. Syuri was eliminated from the match after wrestling Kyoko Inoue to a ten-minute time limit draw. On October 31, Syuri defeated Yumiko Hotta for her first successful defense of both the Reina World Women’s Championship and the WNC Women’s Championship. On December 22, Syuri won yet another title, when she defeated La Comandante in a decision match to become the new CMLL-Reina International Champion. On January 18, 2014, Syuri made a non-wrestling appearance at the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) co-produced Fantastica Mania 2014 event in Korakuen Hall, handing a bouquet of flowers to Rey Cometa and Stuka Jr. before their match.
