Sylvia Brustad is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on December 19, 1966 in Elverum, Hedmark, Norway. Sylvia Brustad (born 19 December 1966 in Elverum) was an ex- Norwegian politician from The Norwegian Labour Party.

In the cabinet of Jagland that was in office from 1996 until 1997, she was minister for Children and Family Affairs. She later became Minister for Local Government and Regional Development in the cabinet of Stoltenberg between 2000 between 2000 and 2001. After the victory in the elections of 2005, Brustad became Minister of Health and Care Services in the second cabinet Stoltenberg. She was elevated to the position as Minister for Trade and Industry in June 2008, and resigned from the government in October of 2009.

Brustad was a household name for her position as Minister of Children and Family Affairs in 1996, when a law limiting the hours of operation of stores on Sundays, on holidays and even after 9 at night was approved. Stores with a square area of less than 100 square metres could be open. These establishments were referred to as “Brustadbuer” (“Brustad shacks”) before the law was swiftly repealed in 2003. Brustad herself stated that she was not the one who supported for the legislation, however she claimed she was expected to adhere to an order made by the Labour Party.
