But, just a day prior to the fight actually took place, Sim reportedly dropped out of the fight because of “insufficient insurance coverage provided by the organisers and restrictions on increased coverage as stipulated by the insurance companies.” As per Sim’s managing company, “this decision was made after careful considerations of the potential risks involved and ensuring Sylvester’s safety and well-being is of paramount importance.” But many people believed that Sim quit because Lim through a string of social media posts showed that he was preparing for the fight with a lot of dedication. So the fight, which was informally called Sim-Lim in the Square (after the local famous Sim Lim Square), was never held.
On July 31, 2017, Sim revealed that Sim will be taking on local star Steven Lim in a muay thai “celebrity bout”. The fight was planned to take place on September 23, 2017, at the first Asia Fighting Championship event in Singapore.
