Syda Bbumba is one of the most popular and richest Accountant who was born on January 7, 1952 in Nakaseke, Nakaseke District, Uganda. Syda Namirembe Bbumba (last name often called Bumba) (born on January 7, 1952) is an Ugandan politician, accountant and banker. She was in the Cabinet of Uganda as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2002 until 2006 as the Minister for Gender, Labor and Social Development from 2006 until 2008 as well as the Minister for Finance from 2009 until 2011 in addition to Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development in 2011 and 2012. She was also elected Member of the Parliament of Nakaseke County North, Nakaseke District She is Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Economy and the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Islamic Banking Forum. She is Sub-Saharan’s representative on the OIC Women Advisory Panel.

From 18 February 2009 to 27 May 2011, she served as Minister of Finance as the first woman to hold office in this capacity during the entire history of the nation. She was appointed again in the capacity of Minister of Gender, Labor & Social Development on the 27th of May, 2011, succeeding Gabriel Opio, who was removed from the Cabinet. She resigned her cabinet position on the 16th of February, 2012 due to accusations of corruption in the management of public funds. She remained in her parliamentary seat however.

From 2002 to 2006, she served as the minister of Energy & Minerals. From 2006 until 2008 she was the minister for Gender, Labor and Social Affairs. Bbumba has covered the numerous environmental issues which the growing population has caused However, President Yoweri Museveni is often urging Ugandans to create more children.

Syda Bbumba was an accounting and treasury director for 21 years at the Uganda Development Bank, from 1974 to 1995. She was an official part of the Uganda Electoral Commission in 1996 before being elected into the Parliament of Uganda, representing Nakaseke County in Nakaseke District. She has always represented this constituency in the Ugandan Parliament. She is currently the incumbent.

Also in her role as Minister of Finance, she became responsible for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), a quasi-government organ that used to be under the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development, which she had just left. The NSSF was moved from the Gender Ministry to the Finance Ministry in October 2004. In a cabinet reshuffle on 27 May 2011, Syda Bbumba was moved back to the Gender Ministry as the new Minister. She was replaced by Maria Kiwanuka at the Finance Ministry.
