Svetlana Matveeva is one of the most popular and richest Chess Player who was born on July 4, 1969 in Bishkek, Russia. Svetlana Vladimirovna Matveeva (Russian: Svetlana Vladislavovna Matveeva born on July 4, 1969) is a Russian chess player with title of International Master and Woman Grandmaster.

She won the 2002 World Cup. made it to the semifinals of the Women’s World Cup, where she was eliminated in the final by Antoaneta Stefanova. In 2004 Matveeva won the Women’s ACP Internet Tournament.

In the Women’s World Chess Championship 2008 she knocked out defending champion Xu Yuhua in the second round, then she lost to Anna Ushenina, thus exiting the competition.

She competed in the Women’s World Chess Championship 2012, where she was knocked out in the first round by Natalia Pogonina.

She was a participant at the Women’s World Chess Championship 2000 in which she was eliminated during the 2nd round, by ultimate winner Xie Jun. Matveeva made it to the second round at her participation in the Women’s World Chess Championship 2004 and lost this time against Natasa Bojkovic.
