Svetlana Gounkina (Russian: Svetlana Aleksandrovna Gun’kina born 1 April 1981 in Moscow) is a Russian golfer. She is a multi-time Russian National Champion. She was also the Bronze medalist at the World Golfers Championship.
In 1998, Gounkina was the only Russian golfer to be awarded an entire scholarship (both academic and athletic) at the exclusive Lynn University in Florida. She decided to attend Lynn University though she was offered scholarships from three other state universities. She was the head of Lynn University’s Lynn University golf team until 2001, at which point the team won first place at the top of its class of the United States. She also received a lot of encouragement and support from well-known Swedish soccer player, and the founder of the very first course for golf located in Russia, Sven Tumba.
In 2003 she returned to Russia and remains the first and only Russian with a degree in Golf Management.
In 2011 Svetlana Gounkina married Jason Chennault, a specialist in the maintenance and operations of golf courses.
In 1997, she enrolled at into Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics, and Informatics.

After one year of training at 13 years of age She was selected for the 2nd position in the National Championship of Russia. Both in 1994 and the year 1995, she won her the Russian National Champion. In 1994 she was the captain in her team Russian national team and took part in the first American-Russian junior golf exchange. In 1997, at the President’s Cup was included in the top junior team of the country.
In 1998 she participated along with the Russian team at the World Golfers Championship held in Sweden and became the bronze medalist. To date, it is the best result for the Russian team at the World Golfers Championship.
