Svetlana Chmakova (Russian: Svetlana Shmakova ) (born September 7 1979) is a Russian and Canadian comic artist. Her most well-known work is Dramacon which is an original OEL (OEL) manga that spans three volumes. It was made available by Tokyopop in North America by Tokyopop. Her other original works include Nightschool as well as Awkward Yen Press. She’s been nominated for and won an Eisner Award twice. In the past, she wrote The Adventures of CG for CosmoGIRL! magazine as well as her online comic Chasing Rainbows for Girlamatic.

Nightschool won the Dragon Award for Kids Comics at the Shuster Awards in 2010.

Awkward was named as one of School Library Journal’s Top 10 Graphic Novels of
