Following the departure of Indiana State Auditor Dwayne Sawyer in 2013 Crouch was named to take over the post. In 2014, following the term of Sawyer’s expiration and the end of Sawyer’s term, it was the Republican Party of Indiana officially named Crouch to run for election in the 2014 elections. The election was held on November 4. Crouch got elected by an average of 23 percent in favor of Democratic Party candidate Mike Claytor and won 59.6 per cent of votes.

After Mike Pence, the Governor of Indiana, was named Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2016 presidential election, Pence had to withdraw from the gubernatorial election. Eric Holcomb, the Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, was chosen as the Republican Party’s new nominee for Governor, and Crouch was chosen as the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor.

In 2005, the district 78 seat as a state representative was filled by Vaneta Becker who had resigned into the State Senate to fill the vacant seat previously held by Greg Server. House District 78 is comprised of portions from Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties. Parts of Evansville and Newburgh, Richland, Hatfield, Darmstadt and McCutchanville are within the boundaries that comprise the district. Crouch was selected to take on the role in a caucus of committee members of the precinct. Crouch was appointed Vice Chairman of the Public Health Committee in the state legislature. Crouch was defeated at the time of this year’s republican primary by the conservative activist Jonathan Fulton but easily defeated by him, with 63% of the votes.
