Susan Nolen-Hoeksema (May 22 1959 from May 22, 1959 until January 2, 2013,) was an American psychologist who taught of psychology at Yale University. Her research focused on the ways in which mood regulation strategies be linked to the vulnerability of a person towards depression. Her research had a a particular concentration on a phenomenon she termed rumination, as well gender distinctions.

She passed away 2nd January 2013 due to complications caused by heart surgery to repair the damage that resulted from a bleeding infect.

She was the first editor of the Annual Review of Clinical Psychology between 2005 and 2013.
