Kadis (born on 11 January 1953) is a politician from Ontario, Canada. The politician was Liberal Member of the Parliament of Thornhill within the House of Commons of Canada between 2004 and 2008.

Kadis candidly ran in the province-wide Liberal Party nomination for the district of Thornhill in 2003. However, she was defeated by a fellow local Councillor Mario Racco.

In May 2005 the Liberal Women’s Caucus criticized some opposition Conservatives members of making sexist remarks regarding Belinda Stronach’s defection to the Liberal party. Kadis said “…criticism is expected, understandable. Sexism is not. The bottom line is that Ms. Stronach’s statements were not gender-based, but the response, disappointingly, was very much overtly gender-based.” She also appeared in an interview, defending Governor General Michaëlle Jean against allegations of separatism.

Kadis endorsed Vaughan, Ontario Mayor Michael Di Biase in his unsuccessful bid for re-election during the 2006 Vaughan municipal election.

In 1995, she launched an online newspaper named”the Thornhill Times that published for one year before closing in 1996. She is the close relative of Lorne Michaels, creator and executive producer for Saturday Night Live.

In the mid-80s, Kadis was appointed as co-chair of a group known as Parents Advocating Student Success. She demanded an investigation by the provincial government into the policies that were employed by the York Board of Education and solicited assistance by Ontario education minister Sean Conway. She claimed that the board was anti-Semitic based on claims that there was a large amount of students belonging to the Jewish faith who were failing an assessment, which included her son. She managed to get the province to conduct an investigation. The province then retested students who had failed to receive an exam.

In 1988, Kadis got elected in 1988 as the York School Board Trustee. She was a school trustee for the board in Vaughan between 1988 and 1994. From 1997 until 2004 she was a councillor for the municipal government.

She was elected to the House of Commons as a Liberal candidate in the 2004 federal election on June 28, 2004, in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) riding of Thornhill. She officially resigned her position as city councillor after being elected. During that session of Parliament, Kadis was elected chair of the Liberal Party’s GTA caucus as well as chair of the standing committee on the status of women. One of her accomplishments as MP was successfully introducing a bill that created a national Alzheimer’s strategy.
