On the 18th of October in 2010, he was granted his first shot at the world title in the fight against Thai WBC Lineal along with The Ring flyweight world champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. The contest was fierce; Rungvisai used his superior speed to thwart the more experienced Wonjongjongkam taking advantage of some of the early and middle rounds, however, he losing a point in the eighth round due to an unintentional head-to-head clash. Wonjongkam was able to finish the fight with a stronger effort than Rungvisai who won with a close unanimous decision. The judges gave the fight at 115-114, 115-112 and 114-113 all in favor of Wonjongkam.
On the 19th of August in 2011, he defeated Mexican Tomas Rojas with a unanimous decision victory to win the WBC Super Flyweight Title in Srisaket, Thailand. Despite sacrificing 5 inches of height to Rojas’ 5’3, Rungvisai’s height is 5′ Rojas is 5’8. Rungvisai had the ability to utilize his speed advantage to make combinations to win most of the middle and early rounds. Rojas however was able beat the rounds later on due to more activity and inside fight. Rungvisai was victorious by a unanimous decision and the judges gave the fight at 115-114, 112-112 and 117-111. All to Suriyan Sor Rungvisai and becoming an 43rd Thai fighter to win the world’s most prestigious title in boxing.
On April 30, 2016, he lost to Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno for silver belt champion at WBC bantamweight class in Panama City.
