Suraj Mapa is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on January 2, 1980 in Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka. The boy was born January 2 the year 1980, on the 2nd of January in Kandy as the eldest of the family. He had two older sisters. He was the son of a successful businessman, while his mother was a domestic worker. He graduated from Trinity College, Kandy and completed an Advance Level examination in 1999.

Mapa began his film career by playing an acting role in the comedy film Clean Out directed by Roy de Silva. Mapa also played a role in Belgium movie Semi Tower. He also acted in the movie Sikuru Hathe directed by Giriraj Kaushalya. The film was an instant blockbuster and was the highest-grossing film of 2007. The film was awarded numerous awards at SIGNIS award and Sarasaviya Awards.

In 2013, he contested for the reality program Derana City of Dance, The Ultimate Level telecast by TV Derana and in 2018 Hiru Mega Stars telecast by Hiru TV.

Then, Mapa followed a course in Hotel Management earning a Diploma in Hotel Management and worked for one year in his father’s hotel – ‘Hotel Zurich Park’. He also studied at IDM and gained a Diploma in Computer Studies. While working for ‘Suntel’ as a customer care executive, he was selected as a model by famous fashion designer Lou Ching Wong and hair dresser Nayana.

Mapa began acting in the year 2002 in the TV show Mage Sanda Oba that earned him huge popularity and was picked for Upcoming Actor award in year 2002. He was awarded the prize for the most popular actor for each of the Sumathi as well as Raigam Television awards in 2005 and 2006 respectively for his serial Pooja. The actor was nominated for the best actor in 2003. The year 2005 was the time he was awarded the award for being the most well-known Sri Lankan actor in the UAE. However , his turning point in his career was through the show Olu in 2010.

Mapa Mudiyanselage Suraj Laksiri (born 2 January 1980 , as suraaj maapaa) (also known as Sinhala) plays an actress on Sri Lankan cinema and television as in addition to being a producer dancer, model, and choreographer. A versatile actor, primarily involved in television. Mapa is well-known for his roles in the television shows Olu, Sepalika and Haara Kotiya.

Mapa started dancing at an early age and is a pro at Latin American dance. He learned to dance under Neomi Rajaratnam. He also was a part of numerous events internationally and locally, such as “Footwork Dance Sport 2002”. In 2013 he learnt Kandyan dance traditions under Guru Kulasiri Budawatta and became a Ves Kandyan dancer in 2014.

His maiden dance show titled Elements with Surya was held at Bishop’s college auditorium on 14–15 May 2010 at 7 p.m. On 27 February 2016, Mapa organized a dance show with over fifty dancers. The show was held at the Dharmaraja College Audotirium from 10.00 am and 6.30 pm.
