Super Shisa Biography

Super Shisa is one of the most popular and richest Professional Wrestler who was born on April 9, 1970 in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Saito began his career in wrestling at Ultimo Dragon’s new promotion Toryumon. He was trained in Mexico along with the rest of members of the Ultimo Dragon students and briefly tried to use the Super Shisa gimmick while there. He wrestled on January 31, 1999, at the debut show of Toryumon. He wrestled as his actual name, Saito team up together with Magnum Tokyo and Dragon Kid to face Shima Nobunaga Sumo Fuji as well as Judo Suwa for an elimination bout in the main card. Saito was eliminated in the second round due to a Nodowa Elbow from Fuji but his team would ultimately beat the other team.

In the final months the year 2006 PosHearts will reunite and Shisa would take home his first title at Toryumon and Dragon Gate, winning the Open the Triangle Gate titles alongside his stablemates BxB Hulk, and Anthony W. Mori. The victory was only temporary however, as PosHearts were unable to defend their titles against Muscle Outlaw’z, and later lost their next match, forcing them to break up as stable. In this game, it was that Shisa was identified as Saito and was injured to the mask and the loss of blood caused Shisa to deface himself.

On February 27, 2010, his ranking in the promotion improved significantly when he defeated K-ness to become the Open the Brave Gate Champion. He held the title for just under two months before losing it to Tigers Mask of Osaka Pro Wrestling.

On April 15, 2011, Shisa represented Team Dragon Gate in the 2011 King of Trios tournament along with Akira Tozawa and Kagetora. In the first round of the tournament, Team Dragon Gate defeated the Spectral Envoy (UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked and Frightmare). The following day, Team Dragon Gate was eliminated from the tournament in the quarter-final stage by The Osirian Portal (Amasis, Hieracon and Ophidian). On April 17, the final day of the tournament, Shisa and KAGETORA took part in a gauntlet tag match and were the final team to enter, but they were defeated by Atsushi Kotoge and Daisuke Harada.

Shisa was then a part of Magnum Tokyo’s PosHearts unit. PosHearts went in hiatus because of an injury sustained by Tokyo as well. Shisa continued to spend the last part of 2005 and the majority of 2006 working with King Shisa and sometimes along with Dragon Gate dojo student Shisa Boy. The group split up when King Shisa was exposed as the Mexican Heel Pentagon Black, and reverted to the gameplay.

He would be a top player during the early years of Toryumon and would later change his name to Saito. At the beginning of spring 2000 Saito along with his fellow Toryumon player Chocoball KOBE wrestled in the Pro Wrestling Kageki. Saito won his Hakata City Jr Heavyweight Title at the tournament, defeating Daiyu Kawuchi in final round.

He announced his sudden retirement at the end of 2001 and also stated that his new pupil, Super Shisa, would succeed him. Saito was given the “Sayonara Saito” series of matches by Toryumon. The series’ record was 0-5-1 with the draw was the result of a double countout with Yasushi Kanda. Saito’s final game as Saito was a loss in the final match against Shuji Kondo on October 28, 2001.

Yoshiyuki Saito (born in Naha-shi, Okinawa) is a Japanese professional wrestler best known by his ring name Super Shisa, currently wrestling for Dragon Gate. His gimmick is inspired by the Ryukyuan Shisa. He claimed to be a student of Toryumon alumni Saito, but was outed as being Saito himself in 2007.
