In February of 2010, Senator Dick Durbin recommended Myerscough to President Obama to sit in the District Court. On the 17th of June in 2010, President Obama renewed the nomination of Myerscough to an appointment as a federal district judge at the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Myerscough was chosen in order to fill the spot that was created when judge Joe Billy McDade took senior status on February 28th the 28th of February, 2010. On July 14 the 14th of July, 2010 Obama pulled Myerscough’s name from consideration for the McDade vacant post and instead renominated Myerscough for the position that was made by the retirement on August 1st in 2010 , of Judiciary Judge Jeanne E. Scott. The nomination of Myerscough was approved by the entire Senate in the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on February 17th 2011. On March 3, 2011, the Senate approved her nomination to be accepted with unanimous consent during the executive sessions which were held on March 7, 2011. The Senate confirmed her nomination on March 14, 2011.

On the 11th of October on the 11th of October, 1995 the The President Clinton nominated Myerscough for a vacant seat in the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois that was established in 1994 by judge Harold A. Baker taking the senior status in 1994. Then, Myerscough withdrew her nomination. Clinton chose not to nominate Myerscough for the same seat in the next year. Instead he appointed Michael P. McCuskey to the seat in 1997 and was confirmed in 1998.
