Liddell is a resident of Inveraray and is the Pipe Major for the Grade 1 Inveraray & District Pipe Band He founded the band in 2003.
He has twice won the Glenfiddich Piping Championship, first in 2009 and again in 2014.
Stuart Liddell has won the World Pipe Band Championships as Pipe major of Inveraray & District Pipe Band in 2017 and 2019.

Stuart Liddell (born 12 January 1973) is a Scottish bagpipe player from Scotland. Alongside playing in solo competitions, He is the Pipe Major for the Inveraray and District Pipe Band.
For the past ten years (1998-2008) He was a member in his Simon Fraser University Pipe Band in Burnaby, British Columbia. As part of SFU Pipe Band SFU Pipe band he won three World Pipe Band Championship titles in 2001, 1999, and in 2008. Prior to becoming a member of SFU Pipe Band SFU Pipe Band, he played in the ScottishPower Pipe Band.
In 2007, Liddell released his first solo recording, Inveroran. He has also appeared on several recordings of Simon Fraser University Pipe Band, with solo tracks on many discs, including:
