Knight was the regional promoter for numerous FWA performances in Cleethorpes’ Winter Gardens in Cleethorpes from 2003 until 2006.

Knight worked with the Frontier Wrestling Alliance (FWA) from 2003 to 2006. On 2 August 2003, Knight – who had recently made a comeback to the ring after injury – won the FWA Tag Team Championship with Alex Shane at the Dome in Morecambe. The title reign was short-lived as Knight and Shane dropped the belts back to The Family two days later at his home ground of Cleethorpes.

In 2000, he cut back on wrestling schedule due to a neck injury suffered in the US when the ring collapsed after a move of the top rope. Knight needed surgery to remove fragment of bones from his spinal column. In April 2000, he opened up the “Steve Knight School of Wrestling”. In June 2003, after having intense physical therapy returned to wrestling with numerous promoters and was soon wrestling 3 – 4 times a week for numerous British promoters and was crowned BCW Champion on 5 December 2003 in Kilmarnock, by defeating Drew Galloway, who was declared champion the same night.

The year 1999 was the first time he was a wrestler for British broadcasting as part of the Ultimate Wrestling Alliance (UWA) The first nationally telecast wrestling program in Britain in more than 10 years. He also was named the UWA Television champion in June that year. He also wrestled in a match for UWA in a three-way match with Doug Williams and Kerry Cabrero. In his home country of the United States of America for 12 weeks from late 1999, securing additional bookings, as well as an offer to working at Puerto Rico. While in America was an instructor in The Jimmy Valiant wrestling camp.

He started his training in April of 1991, and began putting up rings and taking photos to the promoter Max Crabtree. His professional debut was made in June 1991 in Whitby, Yorkshire, at 14 years old. He was a frequent wrestler in and throughout Europe throughout the next 10 years, doing up to 10 shows per week for different promoters.

On 18 March 2005, he teamed with long-time friend Doug Williams in a match with Mitsuharu Misawa and Yoshinari Ogawa for BCW in Carluke, Scotland.
