Steven Francis Frey (born July 29th 1963) is an American professional baseball pitcher who was a part of Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Montreal Expos, California Angels, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Philadelphia Phillies between 1989 and 1996.

Frey didn’t perform the same way when he was in San Francisco, going 1-0 with an 4.94 ERA and no saves in 1994. Frey was sent back to the Seattle Mariners during the 1995 season, and then was released from the Mariners after just 13 appearances. He was signed by Philadelphia Phillies Philadelphia Phillies for the remainder of the season. He pitched very well for them through the stretch, throwing 10.2 innings and giving only just one run earned. He signed with Philadelphia for 1996 and ended his career at the close of the season.

Following three years with Montreal, Frey was purchased by the California Angels in Spring training 1992. It was during his time with Frey and the Angels that Frey had his biggest success. The year 1993 was a great one for Frey. Frey was a perfect 2-2 with an 2.98 earned run-adjusted average, and an all-time high of 13 saves. Unable to negotiate the terms of his contract in 1994 with the General Manager Whitey Herzog, Frey signed with the San Francisco Giants.

Frey was a student at William Tennent High School, located in Warminster, Pennsylvania, and played three years of college basketball in Bucks County Community College before being selected to the New York Yankees in the fifteenth round (379th overall) of the 1983 Major League Baseball draft.

Frey was a five-year veteran of the Yankees in the farm system of the team and reached up to triple-A Columbus. On the 11th of December, 1987 Frey was traded along together with the catcher Phil Lombardi and Darren Reed to the New York Mets for Rafael Santana and Victor Garcia. After a single year playing for Tidewater Tides, he was traded to the Mets. Tidewater Tides, he was transferred for the Montreal Expos for Mark Bailey and Tom O’Malley. He made his debut in the major leagues as a member of the Expos on the 10th of May 1989, pitching in the ninth game of the Expos 10-1-0 win against Houston Astros. Frey now serves as a coach/counselor at the IMG baseball academy in Bradenton, Florida. He has been a coach there since 2004.
