Anibal “Steve” Armas (born March 2 1977) is a former American soccer player who is the current Head Coach of the Associate of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons men’s soccer team. Armas had previously played for one season with Major League Soccer and several seasons in the United Soccer Leagues. He was a part of the United States U-17 men’s national soccer team during the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship. In terms of coaching, he was the head and assistant manager in Campbell University, Greensboro College and the Carolina Dynamo.
Armas was born in Maryland in Maryland, where he was an NSCAA and Parade Magazine High School All American soccer player at the Bullis School. He is a part of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Armas was a student at his time at the University of Maryland, playing in the soccer team of the men from 1995 until 1998. In his 11 games, he scored 11 goals, and 17 goals in his four seasons as an Terrapin. He quit school prior to completing his degree, but he returned and completed his degree in 2003, earning an associate’s qualification from the department of Spanish Language and Literature.
In the year 2004, Armas became an assistant coach for the Carolina Dynamo. In the fall, he expanded his duties when he was appointed an assistant coach for Greensboro College. When he was at Greensboro College, Armas helped in guiding the men’s team to the five-year USA South Conference tournament championship and an additional round NCAA tournament appearance. Armas was appointed in the position of assistant coach at Campbell University in July 2006. Since Armas was hired in the year 2006 The Fighting Camels have compiled a 45-29-6 overall record (.600) and the team’s 25-4-5 record (.809) during the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season. The Camels were ranked in the top 10 teams on the last South Region poll in 2006 2007, 2007 and 2008. They also achieved the school’s very first-ever national ranking at the conclusion of the year (No. 25,) for 2008, at level Division I level. He was appointed as head coach for the Fighting Camels in January 2010 following the departure of the head coach Doug Hess to Drexel University Philadelphia, Pa.

Minnesota Thunder in a three-way deal that brought Andrew Restrepo from the Rochester Rhinos to Atlanta and Stoian Mladenov to the Rhinos from Minnesota. in 2002 Armas had three matches with his team, the Cincinnati Riverhawks. The following year, Armas played in 17 matches with the Carolina Dynamo, scoring five goals, and assisting 16 times during the time the Dynamo claimed the league championship. Armas was chosen as the first player on the team All Star. Then he joined Carolina’s Pittsburgh Riverhounds for the 2004 USL Second Division season and returned to Carolina for the 2005 season.
