Stephen Weigh (born 28 February 1987) is an Australian pro basketball star who played 10 seasons playing in the National Basketball League (NBL). He began with his NBL profession in 2008 following an academic stint of two years at Utah. He took home his first NBL Championship in 2010 with the Wildcats before joining the Adelaide 36ers in 2011. Following two years with the 36ers Weigh went back to the state of Queensland and played his last 5 seasons in his team, the Cairns Taipans.
On June 25, in 2008 Weigh agreed to sign a 3 year contract to join the Perth Wildcats. Weigh was a key member of a top Wildcats team that included players like Paul Rogers and Shawn Redhage. In only his second year with the NBL, Weigh was part of the Wildcats record-breaking fifth championship win when they beat the Wollongong Hawks by two times to just one during the Grand Final series.
In addition to his NBL career, Weigh was a consistent presence in the Australian state leagues. He played four seasons with his hometown Rockhampton Rockets and won QBL Championships with them in 2008 and 2013. He also played in the SEABL with the Australian Institute of Sport; in the SBL with the East Perth Eagles; and a stint with the QBL’s Cairns Marlins.
In 2010–11, the Wildcats could not overcome late season injuries, including losing Redhage to a near-career ending hip injury, and only managed to finish fourth in defense of their title, losing a close fought semi-final series 2–1 to eventual champions, the New Zealand Breakers. Overall, Weigh played 94 games for the Wildcats and in his last season averaged 11.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Weigh was a student at his time at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) between 2005 and 2006. He was coached by his current Adelaide 36ers manager Marty Clarke. The year 2005 was the time he was voted the winner of the National Australian U-20 Championship as well as at the Adidas Asia Superstar Camp.

The month of July, 2005 Weigh took the lead of in the AIS squad in points scored in the William Jones Cup. In the tournament, he averaged 19 points as well as five rebound per game. When he played against Team USA, he scored 26 points. In the match against Japan the score was 32 points. It was the AIS had the distinction of being the first junior team at the tournament.
On the 29th of November, 2005 Weigh was granted a national letter of intent to participate in college basketball at Utah’s University of Utah. He was able to score an average of 5 rebounds and 19 points in the 2006 SEABL season. After his SEABL year, Weigh retreated back to his home in the United States where he joined the Utah Utes men’s basketball team for the 2006-07 season. After a great freshman season, Weigh was hit with injuries in his sophomore year and made the decision for a return trip back to Australia in January of 2008. In his 40 games during one and a quarter seasons playing for Utah He was averaging 4.8 scores and 1.6 rebound per game.
On 28 April 2008, Weigh signed with the Brisbane Bullets for the 2008–09 NBL season. However, in June 2008, the Bullets were forced to release all its contracted players and later pulled out of the competition.
