Fife (born on October 4 in 1986) is an American professional baseball player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He was previously a player for the Major League Baseball (MLB) with The Los Angeles Dodgers and Saitama Seibu Lions of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
Fife was summoned up to the majors for the very first time on July 17 2012 in order to play a spot-start in the game against Philadelphia Phillies in place of the injured Chad Billingsley. Fife pitched for six innings, and only allowed one run , while causing 11 ground ball outs . He ended the game with a lead, only to receive a no decision after the bullpen failed to win his game off in eighth. He was re-assigned to the Isotopes following the game. After one game with the Isotopes the team, he was recalled to the Dodgers following Nathan Eovaldi was traded. He played two more games for the Dodgers on July 27 and August 1, before returning to the minors when the team bought Joe Blanton. In his 24 starts (and one relief appearance) using the Isotopes, Fife was 11-7 with an 4.66 ERA. The team was then recalled for The Dodgers in September and was able to make two more appearances. In the five games he played for the Dodgers in 2012, he went 0-2 with an 2.70 ERA.
Fife picked up his first career win on June 3, 2013, in a spot start against the San Diego Padres. He again split the season between Albuquerque and Los Angeles. With the Dodgers, he made 10 starts (and appeared in 2 games out of the bullpen) with a 4-4 record and 3.86 ERA.
In the 2014 season, he made one appearance for the Dodgers, starting a game on May 4 against the Miami Marlins. He allowed four runs in six innings in that game. He also started nine games for the Isotopes (and appeared in relief twice). He was 2-2 with a 7.01 ERA before going to the DL with a sore arm. On August 13, 2014, he underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his season. On October 13, 2014, he was outrighted to the minor leagues and removed from the 40 man roster.
On July 31, 2011, Fife was traded (along with Tim Federowicz) to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-team swap that also sent Trayvon Robinson over to the Seattle Mariners. In his six starts with the Dodgers affiliate for AA called named the Chattanooga Lookouts, he was 3-1 and had an 4.01 ERA. His name was included on the roster of 40 at the end of the season to guard himself from being drafted in the Rule 5 draft and promoted to the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes to start 2012.

Growing up from Boise, Idaho, Fife was part of Idaho’s very first team to participate in the Little League World Series in 1999. Fife completed his studies at Borah High School in 2005 and helped lead his Lions in winning the 5A state championship during his senior year which was their first title since 1981. Fife is also a part of the American Legion Boise Senators, winning the state championship (AA) the year 2004. He was a student at Everett Community College north of Seattle and then transferred onto the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and was an Mountain West Conference All-Star for the Utes. After his junior year, Fife was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 3rd round of 2008’s Major League Baseball draft.
Fife played in 2008 and 2009 in Class-A baseball with The Lowell Spinners, Greenville Drive along with the Salem Red Sox. In 2010, while playing with his team, the AA Portland Sea Dogs, He played in 26 games, and finished 8-6, with an 4.75 ERA. The 2011 season began with Portland with the Sea Dogs, playing 18 games and posting an 11-4 record , and 3.66 ERA.
