Lindskog became a doctor of law at Stockholm University in 1985, docent of private law at Stockholm University in 1987, and was appointed associate professor of insolvency law at Göteborg University in 1989. He chaired the Swedish Bar Association in 2004–2007.
On 18 October 2007 the Cabinet appointed Lindskog Justice of the Supreme Court. He took office on 1 January 2008. He was appointed Chair of one of the Supreme Court’s divisions in 2011 and President of the Supreme Court in May
