Stamatis Kraounakis Biography

Stamatis Kraounakis is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on December 25, 1955 in Athens, Attica, Greece. Stamatis Kraounakis was a student of music at Mrs Klelia Terzakis. He made his debut in 1978, composing his music to accompany the release To Spiti Tou Agamemnona. The previous year, he made his theatre debut with the music of the production Varieme (1977). In 1981, he recorded his first major collaboration by composing the music for the record Skouriasmena Hilia (Skouriasmena the kheilia) with Vicky Mosholiou.

In 1997, he was appointed to the role as artistic director of Kavala’s Municipal Theater of the city of Kavala and established the new era by introducing three important productions – Ktistes composed by Giorgos Chimonas Gro Plan by Giorgos Maniotis along with the Aristophanes’ Ploutos under the direction of Nikos Mastorakis.

In 2000 his music for the movie of Nikos Panagiotopoulos Afti I Nihta Menei (This Is The Last Night) won the National Award in Thessaloniki Film Festival, while his music for the TV series Istera Irthan I Melisses (And Then The Bees Came) (based on the book by Yiannis Xanthoulis) won the Award for Best Music in the Television Awards. In 2002 his music for the movie of Nikos Panagiotopoulos Kourastika Na Skotono Tous Agapitikous Sou (Tired Of Killing Your Lovers) won the Arion Award for Best Soundtrack.

During 2004 Stamatis Kraounakis composed the music for Nikos Panagiotopoulos’ movie Delivery, as well as music for Aristophanes’ Ploutos for the Athens Festival in Epidavros. In May 2004 he was invited by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London to compose music for the project “Installation 496”.

Since 1990, he’s dealt with Greek theatre plays that can be developed musically, and released musical monologues, innovative methods and songs that have extended musical introductions. In addition, he developed the concept of new ways of performing musical performances, using the songs as a stage dialogue, and the performers as the protagonists of a story fairy tale.
