Stacy Ritter is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on June 8, 1960 in Washington, D.C., United States. Stacy Ritter (born June 8 in 1960) is a Democratic politician, currently serving as the president and chief executive officer of Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. In the past, she served as the Broward County Commissioner, representing the 3rd District from 2006 to the current. Prior to her election for the Broward County Commission, Ritter was a member in the Florida House of Representatives from 1996 to 2004and was a member of the District 96.

In the year Broward County Commissioner Benjamin Graber was forced to resign from the county commission in order to be a candidate for State Senate, a special election was held to take his place for the District 1st and Ritter took on the challenge to succeed the incumbent. She was elected in the Democratic primary with no opposition and she was up against John Irving Halpern, the Republican candidate for the primary election. Ritter ran on the idea of using gambles and casinos in order to substitute for property taxes as a source of revenue for the county, combining services within the finance, engineering accounting, and legal departments at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, as well as Port Everglades; and promoting programs to help minority-owned businesses. She was able to defeat Halpern by a wide margin and gaining 71% of the votes. In 2008, in the next regular general election, Ritter was re-elected to the County Commission without opposition. Ritter has been accused of breaking the law on campaign finance in 2010 when she accepted campaign contributions without reporting them and by spending campaign funds to cover personal costs during the campaign for the 2008 election. Ritter admitted to “sloppy bookkeeping,” but did not deny that she had committed or planned to commit a violation of the laws governing campaign finance, and in the year 2011 she was cleared by the Florida Elections Commission dropped most of the accusations.

In May 2016, Ritter was appointed president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, despite objections from the county’s Tourist Development Council.

In the race for reelection the year 1998 Ritter was able to defeat her challenger, Republican nominee Kevin Norton who was beaten to death with 71 percent of the votes. Ritter had the same success in 2000, edging out Republican Joe Kaufman with 68 percent of the votes. In her bid for her last term as a legislator during 2002, she was challenged only by Libertarian candidate Roger Eckert, and won by a landslide, winning 84% votes.

Ritter is a native of Washington, D.C., and then moved in the United States state of Florida in 1974. Ritter graduated of Piper High School, and then attended Rollins College, receiving her bachelor’s degree in the field of history in 1982. Then she attended Shepard Broad Law Center, the law school of Nova Southeastern University, receiving her Juris Doctor in 1985. Ritter was an attorney practicing in private practice with a specialization in probate matters, and was a lobbyist for the National Council of Jewish Women and helped convince the then-Governor Lawton Chiles to block the bill that would have allowed school prayers.

Benjamin Graber declined to seek another term in the state legislature to pursue a run in Congress, Ritter ran to succeed him in the 96th District. She was up against Broward County School Board Member Karen Dickerhoof in the Democratic primary and campaigned with an “fresh approach,” which included using skates in line to knock on doors in the District. She portrayed herself as an “political outsider” and criticized Dickerhoof for being “too close to Broward’s political power brokers” while praising “educational alternatives to reduce juvenile crime and strong growth management across [the county].” In the end, Ritter defeated Dickerhoof by large margins and won 57% of the votes and then went on into the general election in which she was defeated in the general election by Linda Blake, the Republican candidate. In the past, Ritter campaigned on reducing the number of juvenile criminals and limiting growth , and she emphasized her support for the right to abortion. Due to the split in partisanship of District, Ritter beat Blake in an overwhelming majority with 60% of votes.

In 2012, Ritter ran for re-election, and was opposed by Robert Sutton, the Republican nominee and a high school math teacher. Sutton attacked Ritter over her alleged ethical issues while Ritter campaigned on her successes in starting major construction projects in the county, including the building of another runway at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, a new county courthouse, and installations at Port Everglades. Ritter ended up defeating Sutton in a landslide, winning re-election with 67% of the vote.
