Srinath Sooriyabandara is one of the most popular and richest Sri Lankan rugby union player who was born on January 17, 1989 in Colombo, Western, Sri Lanka. After high school, Srinath Sooriyabandara joined CR & FC in 2009. He soon began making an impression and quickly became the first choice for the club’s Scrum Half. He was a part of three seasons for the club.
He was part of Sri Lanka’s Sevens squad which took home the Shield Championship at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He was the only and first Sri Lankan to compete at the Asian Games for three consecutive years.
Following the demise of Up Country Lions in 2014, Srinath Sooriyabandara moved to Navy SC. He initially played at Fly-Half to replace the Fly-Half of the club who was injured. After his return to his preferred position, he became the club’s first choice for the position of Scrum-Half.

Srinath Soori is a Sri Lankan Union rugby player who is currently playing for the Kandy SC in the Dialog Rugby League. He played for Sri Lanka in the 15-man code from 2009 until 2014. He also has been a crucial member of the National Sevens Team since 2010 and was elected Captain of the team in this year’s Asia Rugby Sevens Series. He typically plays as a Scrum half, however because of his versatility, he can also play Fly-Half or Full-back.
As of 2013, Soori revealed that he had signed with the club that was formed in 2013 Up Country Lions along with numerous other prominent national rugby players. The team made his debut in his team Up Country Lions against Kandy Sports Club (rugby). In the next campaign, Srinath Sooriyabandara was appointed as coach of his team. He led his team to an eighth-place finish at the Domestic Rugby League
Srinath Sooriyabandara signed with the rugby powerhouse Kandy SC in 2015. He has been a regular at the club ever since.
