Sotirios Alex Manolopoulos also called Sotiris Manolopoulos (Greek: Soteres Manolopoulos ; born on 27 June 1970) is a Greek professional basketball player who retired as well as a basketball coach. Born in Athens the city of his birth, he played in college in Boston University. After graduation, he returned to his home country, Greece and began playing professional basketball. He worked as an assistant coach on various teams of the Greek Basket League, before his appointment as the chief coach for Panathinaikos in May of 2015.
Manolopoulos began the coaching profession as an assistant coach for Peristeri in the year 2004. The 2005-06 football season was when he took over as the assistant coach for Makedonikos. He was transferred into Maroussi for the following season, where he was a part of until 2011. He was made Aris the assistant coach in the year 2011. He was promoted to the assistant coach job at Panathinaikos in 2012. The 4th of May, 2015, he was appointed Panathinaikos the head coach following the demotion by Dusko Ivanovic. post.
On the 22nd of October, 2015, he was hired in the position of assistant coach of AEK Athens. On the 18th of December, 2015 Manolopoulos was named the head coach at AEK Athens following the departure from the position of Dragan Sakota from the same post, in order that he could take on the role of director of the club. In March of 2017, following the departure of the head coach Jure Zdovc from the club, Manolopoulos became the new head coach of the club following the signing of a contract with them until the end of 2018.
