Solveig Horne is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 12, 1969 in Haugesund, Rogaland, Norway. Born on 12 January 1969 , in Haugesund, Rogaland, Horne is the daughter of the automobile mechanic Jon Tormod Horne (born 1942) and his wife Ingebjorg Marie (nee Stodle, born 1942) who is an registered nurse. Horne grew up in the municipality close to Etne located in the Sunnhordland region. She is the oldest of five sisters.

A political activist from the mid-1990s onwards, Horne was elected member of the executive committee of the Sola municipal council following the local elections of 1995 and also an elected participant on the Rogaland county council from 1999 until 2005. Horne later recalled the process by which she was selected to her first post because of affirmative action declaring that a male contender was rejected as the party had to have with a female member in order to attain gender balance. She was then questioned about her qualifications and, since then, she has been an unwavering anti-affirmative action.

In the 2005 parliamentary election the Progress Party achieved its best election result at that point, gaining an additional twelve seats to become the second largest party. In Rogaland it became the largest party and swept both Horne and Ketil Solvik-Olsen into the Storting (who would both become ministers in the same cabinet eight years later). Horne had previously, since 2001 served as deputy representative. Upon her election to parliament, she served as a member of the Standing Committee on Justice.

She was re-elected in the 2009 parliamentary election, which again saw unprecedented gains for the Progress Party. During her second term she served as a member of the Standing Committee on Family and Cultural Affairs. She was subsequently re-elected in the 2013 election.

Horne was married to her first spouse, Steinar Kolnes, after moving to Sandnes at the age of 16. He was married to her in 1987, at an age of 18. The couple were divorced in 2003. They are parents to two young children. When she divorced, she decided to keep the name of her birth. She has lived in the area of Jaeren since her move to Sandnes at the age of 16 she is now split among Oslo with her house in Sola.

Solveig Horne (born 12 January 1969) is a Norwegian politician from the Progress Party who served as Minister of Children and Equality in the Solberg Cabinet from 2013 to the year 2018. She was also an MEP for Rogaland since 2005.

She attended two secondary schools that specialized on vocational training. Between 1985 and 1987, she was enrolled at Gand Upper Secondary School in Sandnes as well as she attended her final school year, 1988 with Hinna Upper Secondary School in close proximity to Stavanger. After graduation in high school, she started an internship at the local sales cooperative. In 1990, she became licensed as a butcher, which she occupied for six years, and until 1996 when she shifted to full-time political work.

She has been an elected official since 1995, and was elected to the Storting, the Norwegian parliament, from Rogaland in the 2005 election, and has been re- elected for two consecutive terms in 2009 and 2013.
