Franziska Maria “Ska” Keller (German: [‘ska:’kelaborn the 22nd of November, 1981) is a German politician and a member in the European Parliament for the Germany constituency. She is a part of the Alliance ’90/TheGreens, a as part of the European Green Party.

Keller was a student of Islamic study, Turkish and Jewish Studies at the Free University of Berlin and at Sabanci Universitesi in Istanbul. In addition to her mother tongue of German Keller is proficient with English, French and Spanish and also speaks several Turkish as well as Arabic. She graduated in the year 2010.

She is co-president of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament and member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE). Ska Keller was the European Greens’ frontrunner during the European elections 2014 together with José Bové and has been elected to lead them again for the European elections 2019, together with Dutchman Bas Eickhout. She is currently serving her second term in office, while she was first elected into the European Parliament at the age of 27 in 2009.

Keller is known for her commitment to fighting corruption in the European Union. In February 2018, she participated in protests against corruption in Bulgaria.

During her initial period (2009-2014, Keller served on the Committee on Development from 2009 until 2012. From 2012 until 2014, she was part of the Committee on International Trade. In addition to the committee assignments, Keller was also member of the Parliament’s delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-Turkey. In this capacity, she specialized on the issue of immigration and EU relations with Turkey.
