He later sought an Rhodes scholarship to study the law degree on the campus of Oxford University. After finishing his law degree as well as the Bar within Britain, Siva took a year off and moved to Germany in which he spent the bulk times in the libraries reading. In the 2008 general elections, Sivarasa was elected as the MP for Subang and defeated his opponent by a majority of 6,000 votes and he was able to hold the seat until the 2013 general elections.

His first experience with an NGO came in 1997, when he became involved in a women’s organization known as Citizens Against Rape. Siva was arrested twice in the period of Reformasi period, but brushes it off as a part and parcel of his task. He then joined PKR.

We were kind of thrown together and that’s when it all happened. After a long courtship, we finally got married in 1993” He revealed this on an interview with NST interview.
Sivarasa was appointed Deputy Minister of Rural Development of Malaysia and sworn in on 2 July 2018 in the presence of His Majesty the Yang di Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.
