Simon Edward Rusk (born 17 December 1981) is a professional soccer management and ex-professional footballer. He is currently the head coach of Brighton and Hove Albion U23s. He has the most prestigious coaching license that is the UEFA professional license. He is the one in charge of the progress of numerous young players up to Brighton & Hove Albion first-team such as Aaron Connolly, Steven Alzate, Solly March and Ben White.

The manager Dino Maamria confirmed in January 2008 that he would be moving in the coming months, with Weymouth as the next destination. But He signed a one- and a-half-year deal at York City on a free transfer on January 8. The debut came in York’s victory 2-0 against Aldershot Town in January and completed this season in 14 games for York City. He was injured with an injury to the medial knee ligament in York’s 1-1 draw against Torquay United on 28 August when he was substituted in place of Niall Henderson in the 73rd minute. He returned on the 20th of September, in a 1-1 draw against Salisbury City. It was he who scored the winner’s penalty to York in a penalty shoot-out win against Mansfield Town in the Conference League Cup third round on the 4th of November that ended 1-1 after extra time. He played at the FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium on the 9th May 2009, in which York was defeated 2-0 by Stevenage Borough. He was let go by York at the close of the 2008-09 season where he made 47 appearances and scored a goal.

The following year, his side finished third in the league and won promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1 – the highest level for U23s football – for the first time ever, following a 2–0 victory over Aston Villa in the play-offs.

Rusk was appointed U23s Head coach in March 2015, stepping up from his role as U18s coach.

Rusk became a member of the Conference Premier team Crawley Town on May 27, 2009. His debut came in the 22nd minute substitute in a defeat of 4-0 at Mansfield Town. Rusk continued to play frequently during his first season at the club, playing 42 appearances, a majority of them at right-back. Rusk was offered a second one-year deal in April 2010 when he signed the contract in May. In February of this year, Rusk was an 81st minute substitute in Crawley’s 1-1 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The birthplace of Rusk was Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Rusk was a part of in the Peterborough United youth system in 1995. He was as a loan player in the Southern Football League Premier Division with Cambridge City during the 1999-2000 season. He was offered an open deal to Boston United in March 2001 after being released by Peterborough. His Boston debut was made in March 2001 during an encounter with Doncaster Rovers. The manager fined him Steve Evans for receiving a red card in the match against Shrewsbury Town in December 2005. He underwent surgery for knee injuries in December of 2006, which kept him out until Christmas.

He was able to join Rushden & Diamonds on a one- month loan later in the month.

Due to a number of serious injuries, he retired following the end of the 2010–11 to take a role with Crawley’s Centre of Excellence ahead of their first season in the Football League. He was appointed a youth team coach at Brighton & Hove Albion on 6 March 2012, a role involving overseeing the development of the club’s scholars and managing the under-18 team.
