Simon Prast is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on March 6, 1962 in Otahuhu, Auckland Region, New Zealand. Prast made his TV debut in 1983 with his first appearance on the New Zealand drama series Mortimer’s Patch. In 1987, he made his return to the television screen, starring as Alistair Redfern on Gloss, the New Zealand soap opera Gloss. In 1992, he appeared in the dramatic film which focused on his involvement in the French militant attack against an Greenpeace ship located in Auckland Harbour in 1985. The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior also featured Sam Neill and Jon Voight. Prast starred in the role of Nurse Paul Churchill on several episodes of the soap show Shortland Street (1995-1996). Prast was co-starring in The 1998 New Zealand movie, When Love comes Along along with Rena Owen as well as Dean O’Gorman, directed by Garth Maxwell.

In 1998, during the TV arts program Backchat (hosted by Bill Ralston), Prast engaged local politician Craig Little for an increase in regional arts funding. Following the debate, $10 million was allocated to support the arts in events that are of regional importance to Auckland.

In 2009 Prast appeared as an arts commentator on TVNZ’s Breakfast programme, sharply criticising the Auckland City Council for overspending on International Theatre Productions.

In June 2010 Prast announced his intention to stand as a mayoral candidate in the October Auckland mayoral election. He stated that his experience and leadership would allow him to be an effective Mayor, the first as it transitions into “Super City”. He was not successful in his bid, finishing fifth in the field of five listed candidates.

The company was founded by The Auckland Theatre Company in 1992 and serving as its Director between March 1992 to February 2003, he produced and/or directed more than sixty mainbill productions , including The Graduate, The Rocky Horror Show, Haruru Mai, The Daylight Atheist, Hair, Death of a Salesman, Wit, Art, Closer, The Judas Kiss, A Streetcar Named Desire and 12 Angry Men.
