Simon Mulongo Biography

Simon Mulongo is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on June 26, 1962 in Manafwa, Manafwa District, Uganda. Mulongo was born in Bubulo Parish, Bugisu sub-region on June 26, 1962, to a Christian family from the Bagisu. His primary education was in the town of his birthplace, Mbale and was granted his PLE accreditation in 1978.

Mulongo began his political and professional career in 1994 when he was an elected part of the Constituent Assembly that promulgated the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. Between 1996 and 2001 the president appointed him by President Obama to be the resident district commissioner (RDC) who represented the central government as well as chairing security committees within the districts which included Jinja, Luwero and Hoima. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Simon_Mulongo&action=edit In 2001, he secured employment as a policy analyst in the Office of the President, a position he held up until 2003 when he was promoted to the role of director, strategic policy. In 2007 Mulongo was appointed director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force Coordination Mechanism (EASFCOM) for two years following when he joined the elective political system.

In 2009, Mulongo joined elective politics on the National Resistance Movement ticket and strategized for the 2011 polls, a move that saw him win both the party’s 2010 primary elections and the 2011 general elections thereby becoming a member of the 9th Parliament for the Pearl of Africa representing Bubulo County East in Manafwa District. In the 9th Parliament, Mulongo served as the vice chairperson of the Committee on Defence and Internal Affairs and as a member of the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline and the NRM Parliamentary Caucus.

In 2016, Mulongo failed in his reelection bid and now continues to work as a partner at Link Conflict Consultants (LICCO), a firm he co-founded in 2009 and as security analyst at EMANS Frontiers.

Mulongo was further elevated towards further study at Institute of Accounting and Commerce (IAC) where he earned the certificate of accountancy in 1988. He also became a certified public accountant and firm accountant at the age of 1989. He continued his studies at Fairfax University, graduating in 1992 with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He earned the MA in Strategy/Conflict Resolution from the National Defence College, Kenya (NDCK). Furthermore, he obtained his MA of International Relations at Nairobi’s University of Nairobi in 2007.
