At the age 27 Hon Schembri has been elected into the Parliament with the Labour ticket in the very first election, in March 2013. Silvio contests the local council elections in Luqa with his Labour Party ticket, where at 18 years old, he was elected Malta’s youngest councillor. While attending Junior College, Schembri was the president of the PULSE JC movement (Social Democratic Students of Malta) and the president of the Student Council as well as Public Relations Officer for the General Workers Youth Union Section (largest trade union in Malta) and Education Secretary for Luqa Labour Party Local Committee.
