She is best known as the current lead vocalist of the Dutch progressive/alternative rock band The Gathering (since 2009). She was also the frontwoman for Norwegian gothic/doom metal group Octavia Sperati.
Wergeland was raised in Bergen in Norway, where she frequently lives. The man she is with is Mads Lilletvedt, drummer for the death/thrash metal band local to Bergen Hellish Outcast, and Sahg. They are parents to two daughters: Marie, born in August 2012, and Louise born in February, 2016.
On the 10th of March 2009, it was revealed the singer Wergeland was a part of the Dutch rock group The Gathering, replacing singer Anneke van Giersbergen who quit to create her own group Agua de Annique.
